Dan Nemec Dan Nemec, Engineering Solutions Architect at Silverpop, brings 12 years of operations and solution architecture experience with Software As A Service applications. Erik Troan Erik Troan is founder and CTO of rPath, Inc. Jyoti Bansal Jyoti founded AppDynamics in early 2008 with the vision of defining the next-generation of application performance management (APM) solutions for distributed applications running in cloud, virtual, and physical environments. Javier Soltero Javier Soltero is the CTO of Management Products at SpringSource division of VMware. Previously, Javier was the co-founder and CEO of Hyperic, the leader in multi-platform, open source IT management, which SpringSource acquired in May 2009. Prior to co-founding Hyperic, he was chief architect at Covalent Technologies, where he led the design and implementation of multiple enterprise products, including the configuration management product for Apache and the Covalent Application Manager (CAM)—now Hyperic's flagship product Hyperic HQ. Prior to Covalent, Soltero was a senior software engineer at Backflip, where he met Hyperic co-founders Charles Lee and Doug MacEachern. At Backflip, he was actively involved in the design, implementation, and operational aspects of the site. Michael Stahnke Michael Stahnke began working with Unix in the late 1990s. After getting a CS degree from Ball State in 2002, he quickly found his passion in Linux administration and automation. He has worked with Fortune 100 companies, and several open source projects. Michael has concentrated on Identity Management as well security integration into administration and automation processes. In 2005, Michael authored Pro OpenSSH for Apress Publishing. Michael also joined the Fedora project in that year. Today he (co)maintains about 30 packages, and is an active member on the Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) steering committee. James Turnbull James Turnbull is Director of Operations for Puppet Labs. He previously worked for the National Australia Bank as the manager of their Computer Emergency Response Team. James has also worked as an Executive Manager of IT Security at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the CIO of a medical research foundation doing Web-based clinical trials, managing the architecture group of an outsourcing company and in a number of IT roles in gaming, telecommunications and government. He is an experienced infrastructure architect with a background in Linux/Unix, AS/400, Windows, and storage systems. He has been involved in security consulting, infrastructure security design, SLA and service definition and has an abiding interest in security metrics and measurement. James is involved in the Free and Open Source Software community as a developer and contributor.
